Cavoodle Community Australia

Cavoodles, as one of Australia’s top dog breeds, tend to enjoy a lot of pampering and care from their owners. These affectionate, friendly dogs have captured the hearts and minds of dog lovers from both rural and urban areas. The Cavoodle usually gets the good traits of both of its parent breeds, the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and the Miniature Poodle. Both of the parent breeds are also typically very well cared for and pampered dogs, so it’s no surprise that Cavoodles follow suit.

Today we’re going to show you some of the best picks to care for your Cavoodle.

Best Cavoodle Food, Toys, and Treats

Food:

Making sure your Cavoodle is healthy is mostly about finding a dog food that fulfils their nutritional needs. The main things to look out for are as follows:

  • Protein – Protein is broken down by your dog’s body into several different amino acids. Your dog cannot produce some of these amino acids on their own, so it is vital that the dog food you choose contains high-quality proteins that provide these amino acids.
  • Carbohydrates – These are what give your dog energy for their day-to-day lives. While they are important to keep your dog energetic, too many carbs in a dog’s diet can cause them to gain weight, as excess carbohydrates are stored as fat. Good dog food has the right amount of carbs without any filler.
  • Fat – Fat in your dog’s diet isn’t a bad thing, as it is what keeps their skin and fur moist and soft. They are also metabolised very effectively by dog’s bodies, providing a great source of energy.

Cavoodle puppies should eat a premium dog food that is specifically formulated for a breed their size. In general, you will be feeding your puppy this diet until they are 12 months old. Our choice is a meat-based, grain-free dry dog food such as Blue Buffalo Freedom Grain Free small breed dry dog food.

Toys:

Dog toys are mostly a matter of personal preference for dogs, but we think there’s one that’s head and shoulders above almost all the rest. The Kong Classic toy has multiple uses, and is incredibly durable even against the strongest chewers. There are different hardnesses of Kong Classic toys, and we suggest trying the puppy version while your Cavoodle is young. If they begin needing harder versions, you can upgrade to adult versions.

Treats:

Treats are an important part of a dog’s diet, as most dogs will respond best to treats as a form of positive reinforcement during training. Most of the same stipulations for dog food apply here, only you have a little more leeway regarding fat and carbohydrate content, since that’s where a lot of the flavour lies. If you want the healthiest option, dried dog-safe fruits are a great choice, such as bananas and mangoes.
